Click here to see a checklist for items that do need a permit, and items that do not require a permit.
To avoid insurance claims not being paid.
To make sure all life safety items are built or installed correctly.
To avoid problems when the home is being sold. Work done without a permit doesn't qualify as livable square footage due to not being inspected.
The cost of a permit depends on the type of a permit needed.
Our base fee is $151.50* This covers furnace and water heater change out, reroofing a home, replacing windows and exterior doors, and redoing exterior wall coverings.
$251.50* covers basic decks, small sheds, and basement finishing that are valued at $15,000.00 or less.
When a $15,000.00 is exceeded, then per the City Council, permit fees are figured on a per square foot basis. For example, a 1500 square foot detached garage/shop permit fee is $765.44*.
*The noted fees cover the processing of the permit and the applicable field inspections.
